help w/ continuous wiper-spray action -PLEASE!

greetings,

like the post says...

tonite i put my car through some paces, just for me -hairpin turns, high revs, all things that make this a fun car...

anyway at some point, the windshield spray decides to work CONTINUOUSLY! the wipers decide to operate continuously TOO!!

i would like this to stop and further, return control back to me (i should decide when/when can't it work!).

has this problem been encountered before by other members here? where should i begin to source the probelm? commom sense tells me it is some type of electrical signal/fuse issue...

other miscellaneous info:

1. the windshield spray was not working prior to encountering this problem tonite.

2. the problem BEGINS when i hit 30mph/50 kmh. it stops when i brake and come to a stop.

3. tach doesn't work, but i notice no performance issues -the car goes when i want it to.

4. my next $1000 upgrade (i r/b-ed the exhaust) will be suspension -DO NOT DRINK LIQUIDS WHEN DRIVING THIS 18 YR OLD CAR (84 GS)!

5. toyo tires get you where you want but don't ask for more than this -no decent adhesion, spinning wheels galores! why did i buy? i KNEW suspension sucked so i figured performance tires would be wasted.

6. for all the current problems, this car remains the FUNNEST by far that i have owned to date and forseeable future!

summary: thanks for reading/responding. alot is rambling but seriously PLEASE HELP! i can stand looking like an idiot, but the wiper-spray humiliation is undeserving for a car of this quality!

regards,
norman ng

but seriously, start with the switch and see if the short is there. i don't know if there's a relay in the circuit, but if there is, then that would be worth a look as well. i honestly don't know what the circuit is like, so i may just be blowing smoke out my **** ...

do you have the FSM or Haynes manual?

hopefully someone that knows something can help ... sorry.

switch short sounds likely. Next a short @ the wiper pump motor.

These books will give you the electrical schematics. If you can't find the problem, just remove the fuse for the wipers and put it in the glove box until a rainy day.

Mine used to blow some washer fluid out, but only if I filled it up all the way.

greetings,

is it straightforward to check the switch? shop manual has a pic of steering wheel puller but haynes says it isn't always necessary...

also, what exactly would i be looking for? anything i would possibly need to repair the problem? and is a new locknut/nylon insert really necessary for re-installation of steering wheel?

thanks,
