I had to wiggle it in as it would get stuck on the lip on the back of the diff housing.

It took me a bit of twisting and turning to get it over that back lip. It magically slipped in though.

I have a road racer, and I frequently have to change from one pumpkin to another for different gear ratios. The pumpkin is a very tight fit in the housing, so if you are slightly crooked going in it will bind and get stuck.

Clean all the old silicone RTV off the housing and the pumpkin. Then clean all the old gear oil off both surfaces with brake clean solvent. Put a THIN layer of fresh RTV on the face of the housing.

When it gets stuck, pull it back out slightly, and try again. It must be perfectly straight going in or else it will get stuck.

Alignment tool trick: Get a few much longer 8mm bolts, and use them to help you keep it straight and guide the pumpkin in. Once it is seated, then secure it with the regular length 8mm bolts. Do not hang the pumpkin's weight sticking way out on one or two long 8mm bolts, or you may bend the bolts.

If you get frustrated enough grind a little off the nubs that stick out of the side of the bearing caps. I have a pumpkin that wont fit in any of the 4 axle housings i have. Shave a little off those nubs and she slips right in.
