Does your car have power steering? I recall reading that the power steering column is different than the manual version, though how different I do not know.

Why would they change the steering column to do an engine swap? No rational reason unless there was a problem with the column. None of the front steering parts interfere with an engine change-out at all.

Does the car go straight with the steering wheel centered?

Do you get the same number of turns from center to left, and center to right?

Check to see if the steering center link is hitting the oil pan, & all the geometry looks normal Under the car.

Check to see if they smashed the column with the engine, getting it in, and now it's warped.

Or take it back to whatever people did the work and tell them to fix it!

I replaced the gearbox and the colum .Mine was busted i had 6 inches of slop left and right. The screw to adjust it was broken. So when i got the engine rebuild i had them change it. I found the correct one so now i have to change it thanks.
