HELP!! rex0r wont stay running/runs like crap when it does, whats wrong?? @@@@@@@@@@
Well the RX7 sat for about a week after i ran out of gas. (guage doesnt work, and was broke until today) So I go up and get 4 gallons in a can, and put it in.I go to fire it up, and usually it fires right away, but this time it didnt. I sprayed a bunch of carb cleaner in and it fires up off that, but runs like crap, its hard to explain, but like a snowmobile thats running on one cylinder, itll rev, but takes along time, and smokes/backfires alot. I dont think I blew a seal, because it was fine one moment and not the next. Its not the fuel pump, thats not old and it does run. Any advice is appreciated, I need it by the sunday for an autocross!! First one
Thanks in advance,

check the trailing ignition for spark, it also controlls the fuel pump relay ...if the ignitor goes out the pump wont work, wich explains why your car runs like ****, if its only running on half the ignition system

If the only thing you did was let it run out of gas and sit - I might go a little more simple: Put another 4 gallons in it and a couple bottles of Heet. If its sat, it's probably collected moisture in the tank and line...

Yeah, if it was empty, colder weather can cause condensation inside your tank, and water is heavier than gas, sooooooo the water gets sucked into your fuel system before the fuel does, and your cars don't run too well off of water (don't you wish it did? )

I put about 2 gallons in when I tried to start it, the fuel pump is wired to a switch in the dash, so thats working fine, the fuel filter is new, and shouldnt really go from fine to crap like that, but ill have all day saturday to putz with it so ill check ignition i guess first of all

Well I was tinkering with it today. Its just REALLY flooded. I read http://www.rx7.com/tech/unflood-sa-carb.html and it was most helpful, but how come the oil has to be changed after flooding? Ill probably do it anyway, cause its about that time, but i was curious...Im gonna go pull the plugs and such and see if that helps..wish me luck!
