Help on rear diff. 85 gs

How many quarts of oil does the rear diff hold in an 1985 gsl pumpkin?

FSM doesnt specify, Haynes probably does but its at the shop. But there is a fill plug and you fill until a bit comes out the fill hole.

You won`t need more than 2 litres.

You can really only fill it so much if you do it while its in the car, as the fill plug is on the backside of it, and you can't fill it past that plug right??

Unless you fill it when its out of your car. I would fill just fill it upright to where you can feel some of the gear oil through the fill hole on the back

On the standard UK car 1985, the standard diff holds 1.2 litres of 75W 90 API GL5. Only fill it with the car level. Don't be tempted to fill with the car nose down to get more into the filler because the half shaft oil seals might pass into the hubs.
