Help! Purchasing an rx-7.

Hi, I'm thinking of buying myself an rx-7 on this site http://www.drive.com.au/used/search/...480&mode=Specs
But I'm unfortunately a probationary driver, which means I have to adhere to these rules:

From this date a probationary licence holder will not be able to drive a vehicle if it has:

* An engine of eight or more cylinders;
* a turbocharged or supercharged engine (except diesel powered vehicles);
* an engine that has been modified to increase its performance; and/or
* any of the following high performance six cylinder vehicles as published in the Government Gazette.

It states it can't have an engine of eight or more cylinders, but in the specifications of the rx-7 ad, the cylinder's an R2.

My question is, would this 'R2' cylinder be applicable under the stated prerequisites stated above?

Thanks.

The Rx7 has a rotary engine that means no pistons.R stands for rotor and there is two of them.heres what it looks like.

Is it like probational because you just got your license becasue not being able to drive those kinds of vehicles is completely stupid. But yea it has no pistons and if you get a first gen then its incredibly fun to drive.

That's the deal in Austrailia. To prevent new drivers from driving powerhouse cars. It helps with the fatality rate, insurance deals, and the like.

You should be ok buying a rotary. My insurance states it as being equivalent to a 4 cylinder (because not many companies know what a rotary is, let alone how to go about insuring them).
