Question HELP Please

I was wonderind if anyone can help me. I am running a 12A in my race car and i have an EGT gauge set up. What should the maximun reading be at race speed before i cook a motor...and what should the proper reading be at idle....And one more problem... For some reason my trailing is advance about 20 degrees and no matter what i do with the adjusting it still is really advanced.. I am running no vacum to the trailing..If its on or off it seems to make no differnets..I tried about everything i know of...Any Ideas...Thanks

I'll venture an estimate of 1650 to 1800. Above 1800 things are getting a bit too hot. You might find more info, or at least a better educated response in the racecar tech section. I have seen some figures there and there are plenty of 1st gen track members that frequent that section.
