help my diagnose my car problems

my car is currently down and i would just like to get the opinion of anybody on what i should do to it and in what order to do it in,

to start i got a 1979 car with a 1982 12a engine in it
i also have a freshly rebuilt carb that has also been stripped down to bare essentials

now heres the story behind my issue, my starter wasnt functioning correctly so i got a replacement ignition switch and swapped them.
after i replaced them my car started running like --pardon my language but it ran like ****--

one thing i dont know is that could that happen becuase of the igniton switch?
because the car ran perfectly fine before the new igniton switch

ive also pulled the starter out and got it checked and it works perfectly fine and i got new battery cable tonight, i also pulled the plugs and they were carboned up so im putting new ones in

my question is this, what do i do now?
any input would be great and i shall get a pic of that ignition switch thingy so people know what im talking about--also on a side note the manual says nothing on the function of the switch so im also curious on what all the wire go to

Hmm, I was thinking maby the points but those are gone...more info on what its doing could help. Is it all the time or only after x rpm. Are you sure its ignition? Could it be fuel? The more info you can give is on it the better we can help you find the problem.

alright here is the most extensive information i can supply, i cannot do video cause the starter is not in and the plug are not in and the battery isnt hooked up, but here is whats happening exactly

i hop in my car and pull the choke to start, pump the pedal twice and crank it over, it cranks but doesnt start--when i turn the key off the start keeps going on and on, once it finally turn off i try turn it over again to start and then i dont have battery anymore to start so i push start and pop the clutch and it starts, then i feather the pedal to keep the car running at 2000 rpm up till operating temp, my choke goes in then it idles roughly at 1000 for like 1 second then suddenly drops to 500 rpm then stalls, CANT START THE CAR UNLESS YOU PUSH IT, and runs rough when feather pedal yet when i stomp on it it will hesitate then kick up to 6000 rpm pretty quickly so there still is power, but then i drive the dumb car and it runs like **** pardon my language again and no power, i have to feather the pedal again to even keep it running and not only that the car sounds bad

also my engine shakes like crazy but it all doesnt make sense when it ran fine before the ignition switch swap, but wouldnt start with the old one in, and it will at least crank over with this new one,--as i said before that the starter is in perfect condition so i dont know what to do now and i dont think i have any vaccum leaks either

No, I don't think so. What else were you messing around with Kyle? Sounds like an ignition issue.

The problem with the start continuing to run after you release the key is weird though. You might have to get another switch, unless you wired it wrong.
