help with my decision on a weber

Hey guys, I just wanted to know if it's worth it to get a weber carb on my stockport 12a. There's a guy in town that works on rx7s with some other guys. They are my buds and great at what they do. One of them has a weber sideraft for a stockport 12a that he'll give me for 3 bills. Thats a great deal, thats with manifold included too!!!
My engine also has a dowel pin leak though. With 86k on original motor. I redline it once(if not more) at night usaully cause it gets so hot here. It's ran better than it has when I first got it last may.. I treat it like it should be treated. I know i'll have to rebuild someday. I have 1200 in my bank right now(16) and thinking should I just save for a t2 swap or go for the weber for right now?? Help me out, tough decision.

God bless

Start with what you want to finish with. Do you want the TII swap or stick with the 12a? IMHO, if you are going TII, then I wouldnt get the carb set up. But in your case, it is pretty cheap and you can turn around and sell it for what you got it for, possibly more.

$300.00 with manifold is a great price. Like Jeezus stated, you can always get your money back. It will also give you a chance to feel what somemore HP is like.

Have you put Lucas oil stabilizer in your engine yet? Member onlyonthur has had great luck in controlling his oil leak.

well, as soon as I talk to robert at the shack or jsut do crap on my own, Ill tell you what my butt dyno feels. but with the carb, ignition and full exhaust upgrades you can expect somewhere around a 40 hp gain.

Using a G-Tech, I saw about a 40% gain in power after I added the dual Webers and straight-through exhaust. The numbers themselves are useless, but G-Tech's are good for measuring relative increases.

Go for the weber at that price. On mine with that and an RB exhaust I got 118 rwhp @ the dyno, and was still experimenting with jets at the time.
