Help my carb isnt behaving!!!

My lovely 82 gsl carb has went crazy. it started a month ago cruising at 45 mph the car started jerking like it didnt have gas then it went back to normal driving. so i drove it home n poped open the carb to look down the barrels n noticed that gas was only comming out of 1 the jets. Ive been doing little projects to try to clean the carb (pouring carb cleaner in the tank). but now the problem has gotten worse now gas its spitting gas out the air bleeds. It idles up to 5k rmps n wont go down to its norm, its totally not drivable. What should i do? Really dont want to rebuild i rather go buy a new carb from holley or webber is that a wise thing to do. And if i do put in a new carb will i mess up any stock setting the car has now.

It may be time to rebuild it. It sounds like you have a needle no longer seating properly. You would only see fuel coming from the airbleeds if it were flooding terribly.
