And, I was just looking at RB's website, they don't have a manifold for a weber 48IDA to go on a 6 port 13B.

yea robert is a busy guy, being a one man show and all. he does what he can and it's ALWAYS worth it when youget the product... that is.. if you do end up waiting a tad longer than you might expect. he's a good guy and really knows his weber's. the easiest way to reach him is by phone.

Bump for the Mikunis. My buddy had them on a stockport S4 motor with header, full exhaust, e-fan, and direct fire. That thing pulled like a mother. Gave my 5.0 Fox a run for its money.
I had Delloroto 48s on my FB, I could never get the thing to run right. I could never find anyone who knew anything aobut them, any parts or literature on them, just a huge pain in the ***. Either Mikunis or Weber. Hell, if you could find one of the little dual weber setups, thatd be badass.

So I still need an answer: Is there that much of a performance difference between an IDA and a DCOE? Any ideas where to get an IDA manifold for a 6 port? Or should I just have Kevin Landers convert my motor to a 4 port when he does the rebuild?
Well the difference between the two carbs is where the powerband ends up. Like I was saying with the DCOE you get more of a mid range powerband while with the IDA you have more high RPM power. Like I was saying, the IDA will make more power, but at the same time it is not as streetable as the DCOE carbs. Really the performance aspect of it is a trade off.
Mikuni will work fine up to 175 hp, It's a good honest reliable carb for a streetport or stock motor. My current stock port is running a Mikuni and it is good power for stock engine.
Webers are great carbs, but they are more in line with a Bridgeport or radical extend port. I loved my bridgeported 13b with 48IDA and those things sound unbelievable when they suck fuel and air.

I drive my IDA every day, in L.A. traffic...it is completely driveable!
The 45mm DCOE kit for the 6-port runs $1000 at Mazdatrix. For a small *** carb, that's a whole lotta $$. 48mm DCOE's are more...just go the IDA...sheesh.
