Help me with my miss

ok specs

97,000 mile GSL, stock.

has a consistant miss cruising, almost perfect idle (little miss every little while), pulles all the way up the rpm range fine, stubles when you hit the throttle (have to feather it until you start moving)

I've replaced
dis cap, rotor button, spark plugs, wires, ignitors, fuel filter, rebuilt the carb, adjusted the timing, sprayed around the vac lines to see if there is a vac leak.

Going to change out the dizzy tomorrow to see if it the pick up coil. But other than that I'm really lost.

Sounds like you have covered most everything to try to find it...one thing you didnt mention but might be worth checking is the fuel pump....make sure it is holding pressure under load.

i thought about that too, i was thinking that if it was a fuel pump issue that it would die down under full throttle which it pulls just fine at 100% throttle.

took out the dizzy and found that the trailing advancer was blown and wasn't pulling it, switched that out but still didn't fix the miss! LOL! FML!

I'm changing out the dizzy today and going to see if that fixes the prob. I'm pretty much down to the pick up coil. Oh also I did notice that the car doesn't seem to miss when its cold and choked, but when she warms up and the choke kicks off it begins. Any insight?

thats because when its choked its running at a higher rpm (1200-2700rpm usually)

what do your plugs look like after the car starts to do its missing thing. if you dont know let it do its missing idle for say 5 min shut off and pull the plugs. they should be a light brown color. my car only starts to miss at idle when the plugs foul up. my cure for that is give er a couple runs up to redline and a about a min at 4K+ to heat the plugs up and burn the moisture off em . after that she purs like a kitten.

YMMV

Hmmm.....do the ignition route (i'd pull the plugs and check em as well as changing the dizzy), cross fingers that that solves it. If not, start investigating fuel system....could be something as simple as a bit of trash in the carb or a small vacuum leak (possibly at solenoids).
