Help me find top dead center s5 13b, s3 cover.
Help me find top dead center s5 13b, s3 cover.
So I am trying to find top dead center for the motor. I know this has probably been discussed before. I found a explanation for if you have the stock flywheel and counterweight. My flywheel is aluminum and my counter weight is for an automatic so it's different than the pictures I have found online. With my front cover being an s3 cover and my motor being an s5 I am unsure about how to find tdc.

Even with a aftermarket flywheel the keyway for the flywheel does not change. See the pictures in the thread.
When that keyway lines up with the inspection hole, youre almost there. Remove the leading spark plug and make sure the combustion chamber is as close to its full compression against the housing. Once you set this, install your pulley in that orientation. The S3 front cover should still show the timing in the right location based on the pulley, but thats the only part i am unsure of.

I used the s3 front cover and pulley on my engine which is a Frankenstein 13b 4port has a little bit s5 s3 s4. Because i think the timing mark on the s5 pulley is 5° and s3 pulley has two marks 0° TDC leading and 20° ATDC trailing. As for finding where your at. i did it the same way the other guy described.
