help me beat an fc

i want to be competative agianst my friends fc.

i want to build a road race worthy fb to atleast keep up with a modded fc. my friend has kyb agx adjustable shocks, tien springs, rb front sway, strut bars, 225 hankook tires, some weight reduction and straight pipe with stock port.

what i plan to run is (budget is a factor here) striaght pipe, tokico hp's, rb springs, 205's (if only 15x7ins fit) hankooks, custom strut bars, and lighten the hell out of it with stock port 12a.

some question i have are:

Will 8in wide wheels fit well on stock or do i have to fender flare?

Is there a big difference between the tokico illuminas and the hp's for a road race set up?

thanks in advance!

doode fbs are freakin fast man . i dont think it needs alot of to get the fbs runing fast. my freinds ex civic (now total wreck) with headers, intake and muffler i think pushes 130hp cant even catch my stock fb that i tink its only pushing 90hp because it needs a tune up . do some weight reduction and u should handle pretty well. my goal is to reach 200rwhp i think that should be in the 13's.

my friends fc has about 180 rwhp while i have a rough 120~130. his compression is in the 100's. ive driven his car and it turns like no tomorrow. acceleration goes to the wazoo. i dont doubt the fb's performance, but agianst a modded fc, theres gonna need some tuning.

hey peter, you trying to beat dan or casey? or both? =) Full exhaust is going to make a big difference, you might try and find a cheap header and straight pipe, and maybe an aftermarket exhaust (it's loud, but cheaper than rb muffler). i can give you a ride in my car and you can see how it compares to the fcs...

I have 16x8 with 225 on the rear and the body is stock. I also have HP's I find it to be a most satisfying setup, albeit a bit stiff.

You must at all costs beat your mates big fat old girl!!!!

Good luck Sue

Oh, and even if you dont you sure will look better trying.

running stag wheels isn't very fun. it produces a lot of understeer which i hate, unless ur talking about 8ins in the front too

as for a sp 12a.. ill probably wont do that for awhile. i have an s5 motor waiting for a swap in. it'll produce about 200 hp. but thats not gonna be for awhile.

alvin, yes im competing against both of them. they just told me they're gonna go fender flare and run 235's all around with zeal coilovers.

with that killer 13b swap u would surely be trouble in the street . im pretty sure a full built big street port n/a 13b can be well over 300rhwp which i think is sccaaaarrry inside a 2300 pound car.... . lotus elise 2000 pnds ,190 hp,13 sec in 1/4 vs a 2300 pnds fb, 13b fully built engine . hhhmmmmmmm

300 hp on an N/A...uhhh I don't know about that. You might be able to see 250. When I was looking at big street ported engines it seemed like they were only able to hit about 220 to the ground. IIRC they were 13b's with some 4-port parts and all the bolt ons.

If you want over 300 go bridge...peripheral...or turbo. As far as you beating your friends FC just remember that the weight factor is on your side. Does your frind have a s5? He is hitting 180rwhp with just a straight pipe? Got a dyno on that? If so I would love to see it.

I agree with RB...those mods should suffice.

yea, the fc is an s5 with good compression and straight pipe. i have a 12a with header and presilencer. 40-50 hp difference is a lot.

anyone know the difference of stiffness of the illuminas and the hp's?(besides the difference illuminas are adjustable)

and 8in's in the fronts? the more the merrier.

Taking on an FC in a straight line should be no problem, S4 or S5. Your stock port 12a with these mods, header, exhaust, tune up and a sidedraft carb given that your motor is healthy. Plus those big fat tires wont help him either.
