HELP fuel gauge won't work!!
Well like the title says....How can I fix this? Is it an expensive fix to replace the sender in the tank? Where can I get one if I need to replace it & how much?
Thanx for any replies.

100 bux, also know that the sender is resistance based and has a tendency to corrode, causing it to not work. I would try pulling off the plug and scraping as much corrosion off of it as possible. It may work then, even if it reads a little off. Mine reads 3/4 ish when tank is completely full. At least then you have an idea where your fuel level is. Better than nothing until you can get some extra cash I think.

Also try grounding the wire that goes on the sensor. Then turn on the key and see if the gauge registers. It is most likely corrosion on that connector.

Not hard to fix. Drop the tank, mark the hoses with colors remove the sender and pitch it , any good parts place can get one for you. Drain and flush the tank while you have it out, give the top a good cleaning and rustoleum job. seal it up ,replace the hoses ,jack it up into place and bolt it in. replace the fuel line filter. and drive away. My grandaughter did this last week , took about half a day.

Sorry to revive this thread but I didnt want to make a new one. I have a 90 FC GXL, I had a shop replace my drivers side muffler. From what I seen they only use torches to remove and install the muffler. When I was driving home I noticed my Fuel Gauge reads empty. I think they fried the fuel sensor or the wires to it. Where can I find the fuel sensor on the fuel tank?? and can I use a generic sensor? Thanks alot for any help.
