Help, electrical problem, won't stay running...

I replaced the alternator in the car but as soon as I disconnect the jumper cables, the 7 dies. I don't know if the battery is any good or not as it has been sitting for quite some time.

With the battery completely disconnected in the 7 and the jumper cables going to my other car, it starts and runs fine. Until I disconnect the jumper cables.

Doe the 7 have a strong enough alternator to run the car without a battery? What other problems would cause this? I'm thinking the voltage regulator possibly. The lights, radio and everything else is turned off.

Found the problem. Some idiot (i.e. me) forgot to plug in the little connector on the alternator.

What a dumbass.

While letting th ecar idle to recharge the battery, the temp gauge made it to the half way point. The raditator was hot but I didn't see any circulation in there.

Is this the normal temp? Shouldn't I be able to see water movement in the radiator?
