Help! Collision switches on an FB?

Some bastard rear ended me today in my 1st gen. Now I can't get it to start? Is there an impact switch that shuts off the fuel pump or something? I haven't had a chance to look at everything yet it just happened and I had to run to work.

thanks

No, nothing that sophisticated.

You could have a number of things going on.
1st thing to check is if you do or do not have fuel pressure.
We do have a check and cut valve near the tank area. It is supposed to shut off fuel if the vehicle has flipped upside down. Don't know if it could get damaged by what has happened to you?
First thing to do as always though is check for the basics. Fuel and spark then proceed as usual. :-)

Does the fuel pump still hum? Or buzz? Tick? 1st gen pumps are quiet but you can kinda hear them if the engine isn't running.

Oh wait, you have an '85. Never mind.

Post pics of the damage, including pics of underneath the body. First check that the fuel pump is running, if not, check the wiring from under the driver's bin to the pump and the engine fuse under the dash. If all that's good and the pump is running, pull the cut and check valve from the frame rail, shake it and see if the check ball moves. If it does, reinstall it.

If it doesn't rattle, bypass the valve and see if it will run. If so, post a wtb for a replacement. If that fails, check to see if the tach moves during cranking. If not check the trailing ignition system. Was the battery tied down properly and did it remain securely in place? Is there anything else electrical that doesn't work?

Appreciate all the info guys. I'll get some pictures and more detailed information for you asap. I work nights though and just got back from vacation yesterday when all this happened.

But as I said I have done nothing but park the car so far. I am leaning tword the pump. When the accident first happened if I'd pump the carb alot it would fire over and run for a few seconds before dieing.

Where in the frame rail is this bypass valve thing?

It is located towards the inside of the frame rail, just in front of the DSR wheel well.

Ok so I'm looking at my wiring diagram in the crappy haynes manual. And there is a fuel pump cut relay. But It doesn't tell me where it is located on the car?Anyone know where this is? I bet it's the problem.

Also what fuse should I be looking at? None of the fuses in my fuse panel or the 3 main fuses under the hood say anything about a fuel pump.

your fuel pump cut relay is inside the car under the dash on the drivers side. IIRC, its close to the steering shaft. i bypassed mine a long time ago in my first rx7. it is designed to cut fuel when there isnt anything trailing spark. so make sure you are getting trailing spark.
