HELP carb prob. or what?

OK guys just bought a 84' GSL.....only prob is. When i try and take off it feels like the car wants to die like it floods or something, but once i get the tach going it runs strong. Starts right up. Idles fine, but once I start pressing the gas it wants to die. I drove for 150+ miles home, from where I got it. At one time on high way it felt like it hestitated on acceleration in 5th gear. Is my carb out of adjustment? Do I need a rebuild? Could it be the fuel pump? Should I just give it a good tune up? I already replaced the plugs with NGK's, fuel filter, oil change, but have yet to run it again til I get plates.
Thanx for any replies.

Mine does that when its cold out. Even if engine is warm. My timing is set extremely retarded (which I did, for a reason). I adjusted the accelerator pump and it seemed to help some.

Check to see that its working. Thats most likely your problem. Looking into the carb, manually work the throttle. The AP should squirt as soon as you move the throttle.
