Question Help? 85 Motor into 81 RX-7...

I'm currently working on putting the motor from my 85 rx-7 into my 81. How should I go about doing that?

Is there anything specific that's different? I know there's a few things, I'm just not sure exactly what needs to be done. Is anyone familiar with, or know anything that needs to be changed or altered to have this done correctly?

Any help or feedback is appreciated. Thanks everybody.

There will be minor differences in the stock carbs and rats nest if you use the later carb. Other than that, swap the oil filter pedistal and block one of the legs of the coolant tee on the rear iron.

Keep the same flywheel and clutch on the 85.

Or before you put the engine in instead of blocking off one of the legs for the water outlet tee. Just cut the pipe off so its the same as the 81.

Will you need a 1984/1985 flex plate, torque convertor, and counter weight? I'm not sure, but I would think that the automatics are balanced like the same year manual flywheel.
