help!

Okay, so i've had this 84 GSL-SE for about 2.5 weeks so far, runs really nice, just needed minor repairs. But anyways, I'm on the highway tonight, and all of a sudden, car starts slowing down by itself, and hitting the gas pedal does nothing, so i start pulling onto the shoulder, i hit the gas and it moves a little, then kinda dies down again. So i come to a complete stop, and figure i'm just low of gas (of course, my luck, i went to get a repair the day before and the morons at the shop messed up or disconnected or did something to the fuel level detector or whatever it is, so i couldnt tell how much gas i had in the car, but i did figure i have more than enough to get to and back to where i had to be). So anyways, guy comes, puts in 2.5 gallons, car still wont start, checks the battery and spark plugs, says they're fine, car kinda almost starts, but doesnt ,then after a bit it starts but turns off 3 seconds later. So he added more gas, but this time the engine sounds weaker, and won't start at all. Ended up having to have it towed back to my house. I've heard of some sort of floodings that happen to these cars, but I don't know much about cars to be a judge of that. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Well, the good news is: this ain't flooding.

It's either fuel or spark, one or the other.

well if the sparkplugs are new NGKs, and i did have sufficient fuel (over 5 gallons), are you referring to something else when you say 'either spark or fuel' ?

Check the fuel level in your float bowls. You may have a clogged fuel filter, or a bad fuel pump.

well, you guys are wrong ,it was a flood, next door neighbor helped me out with a push start, got car to turn on, then i left it at 3000rpm for a while to warm the car up...now it runs like a charm again. turns out i need a thermostat, and some radiator stuff... which moves me to my next point: if you dont know **** about cars, make sure your neighbor does.
