So from what it sounds like you don't have much heat?
The heater core gets hot water from when water runs thru the warm engine. What is your engine temperature gauge showing? If the engine thermostat is bad, the engine temperature never makes it to 195F in cold weather. Second is to make sure you are getting hot water thru your heater core. Third do you have high amounts of air coming from the blower thru your heater core?

84 and later cars have some air that come into the car although the blower motor is turned off.

to clarify its got a new thermostat, and rad, pretty sure theproblem is the boxnot the engine, setthe heater on floor , put the discharge to the floor, and go drive,it has heat blowing outfloor, but collld air seeps through dash vents, irregardless of how the the controls are set, faster u go the morecold air, slow down, no cold air, its like itsbeingpushedthrough , pissin me off, at 70 miles an hour feet are toasty but hands arm and face froze, when you select dash vent output it has heat too but it gets cooler when you drive, same deal more speed cooler air, get it? trev

It's a guess on my part...
Try removing the center console and locate the screws that pinch the baffel control cables. It sounds like the baffels are not fully closing to the dash, or some-such. Perhaps one of the cables needs to be adjusted.

Also, if you're not getting a strong volume of air coming out in general, I do know from prior dash removals and my AC core removal that the ductwork on these cars is terrible. They don't mate up very well, and can leak easily. I used to have a healthy amount blowing through my system till I removed the AC core beneath the passender side dash. I replaced the box without the core and tapped the holes, etc. in the box- but I did'nt tape the duct joins, and now I get virtually zero air blowing through. The stuff is all together, it just leaks very badly.

you guys are bound and determined to freeze me out , i did this today, took the panel off under the wipers and blocked the vent intake to the a/.c heater box, walla no more cold air in the dash vents, heater works a little better cause its not polluted with outside air, so is it worth tearing it all apart to investigate? i hate doing thisa type off work in winter cause 20 year old japenese plastic is very brittle, and my interior is flawless,

You didn't really say what the temp gauge reads thought. Maybe all that is working a little too well.

Just my two cents worth here. It sounds like the blend door is allowing the vent air to come in under pressure. Just a speculation but if the heater is working in one part of the car, and you get cold air in another, one door is open when its not supposed to be??
