Heater core leak

So I started my SA yesterday and noticed coolant dripping from the passenger side. I assume it is the heater core. Is there a simple way to just bypass this? Is just hooking up the radiator outlet into the core to the engine inlet ok?
Thanks

Ya you can do that, won't hurt anything except you lose heat, obviously

Many years ago, I had the radiator out for a rod-out and cleaning and had the radiator shop just braze a plug over the heater return to the radiator. Then I fashioned a plug for the side of the engine block uner the oil filter pedestal using some boating hardware. The plug needs to be rubber the diameter of the inside of the metal fitting, which is tightened down using a special assembly on the outside to compress it internally - this ensures youll have no pressure leaks.

I live in the middle of the Sonoran desert and have no need for heat even in the middle of summer.

just curious ....how much of a job is it to remove and replace the HEATER CORE? mine had been bypassed by a previous owner...and I may take the car up North sometime....and heat may be a nice thing to have for my South Florida thin blood...LOL..

Thanks.
