heat shields

Has anyone had problems with heat when the shields are removed. I just scrapped the orig exhaust and pulled all the shields except the one over the muffler.

By the way I never realized how heavy the stinkin factory muffler is.

may i ask why? they really dont save much weight. it really isnt a problem but who knows, you get a blockage somewhere and you might heat up the interior a bit. you will feel an increase in temperature around the trans tunnel, i know, i had no heat shields there on my first 7 many years ago.

Do -SEs have an exhaust overheat sensor under the passenger seat? If so, it seems to me that you might have a problem with that sensor lighting a dummy lamp unnecessarily.

The main heat shield keeps heat from radiating into the passenger compartment and helps keep the transmission temperature down which adds to its longevity.

Yeah, I dumped mine (rusted and rattling away), and the passenger side gets a tad warm around the tanny tunnel...

Kinda nice in the winter...

If you can re-install them, I would recommend it. They do make a big difference.
