wow, if I had the money, all I can say is "SOLD!" That'd be cool to play with (I'm thinking a hybrid resesis half bridge side port with peripheral exhaust and intake ports. I wonder how much hp that'd make...). Think about that in an FB with the reduced weight of that engine from the heavy older 13b, that'd be sweet!

I'd give my left nut for that. Come to think of it, I might even give them both.
It would be a sweet setup in a first gen, 'specially with the 6 speed.

it's still a 13b "block" i would assume it would mate up with any 13b tranny. 6-speed rx-8 tranny would be bang-a-rang though

here's a few words for you:

"Buyer pays for shipping"

and I don't want to know how much it would cost to ship it international.

If it were on this continent and it would be minimal shipping, I would do the buy it now and have it here within the month.

Fly by wire? Meh. You can refit it for direct foot to throttle control... As it is, there's no ECU. Megasquirt perhaps?

how much does a new rx8 block or whatever you call it, cost from mazda, with no intake manif, or anything else thatd be cool to get and build it up yourself after, cool how it bolts to the 13b tranny though, i was reading about that, guy putting a 6 speed in his turbo2

Dan, they probably wanted to make it 100% inspection legal, while the cover isn't required, all of the stock electronic equipment must be hooked up and operating, IE: fly by wire controls, ECU, tranny and any emmisins equipment that came on the RX-8. by doing that way you can get the vehicle licensed for use here in japan.

when you do a engine swap/conversion of that magnitude, its better to play it safe, and install everything except the sheetmetal/frame of the original donor car. that makes it 10x easier to get past the Japanese Inspection Trolls.

I am currently doing a 13bt swap into a first gen, and I have to use everything, the instrument cluster/AC controls/ABS and all that came with the donor car WAPITA! but when I get done, I can simply take the title of the donor car, my title, a reasonable reason why i did it (in my case mazda japan no longer sells all of the engine parts for the SA/FB) and it will be easier to get it legalized.
