Headlights won't go up?
Well since my buddy doesn't have a computer right now I have to ask teh question for him. Recently he just put his steering box in and he goes to turn the headlights on and they didn't pop up. The lights go on but don't pop up. They where working before the steering box. Is it safe to say the switch is no good or the headlight motors, because if it is then i see money coming my way... hello parts car sell

Theres manual ***** you turn to pop up the headlights when its not working. If you got a owners manual it will explain...kinda hard. Its right behind the headlights.
Check the fuseable links in the engine bay. One of them is burnt out. Recommend that you do away with them and go to Napa and get the 2nd gen fuses to replace them with. Should be 2 30amp and 1 60 amp needed.
seems to be common problem. its the fusable links. you can still get new parts from your mazda dealer. on drivers side, just in front and attached to the front strut/tower are the links. there should be a series of them (typing from memory) i think a grouping of three - two brown one black - may be another grouping under the top ones. anyway, they are 3 cloth covered wires with black rubber ends which plug into a brown plastic box. each wire new is about 8 bucks from mazda the box is 26 ( i believe ).
i replaced all wires and a new box when my lights stopped working, easy fix. you may want to disconnect the battery when making the change, just incase it shorts the new parts while you are doing it. i believe mine buned out when my battery cables where not tightened and may have shorted when drivivng over a few bumps.
anyway, this should fix it, ther eare lots of posts on this if you search.

A burned fusable link usually leaves the light in the up position, doesn't it? Because it co-incided with a steering box swap, I'd say it's more likely the combination switch didn't get hooked up properly when he put the steering column back together.
