Headlight not popping up all the way?
I just purchased a '80 RX-7 about a week ago and while tring to adjust the headlights (I thought that they were aimed a tad low) I noticed that the drivers side headlight stops about half to one inch short of where it should apon opening. If you pull up on the head light it will click and lock in place.
How can I fix this? Is there a worn out spring or just some bushings that need to be replaced or lubricated?
Thanks!

it sounds like the plastic bushings on the linkage is broken. There are 2 diff links to raise the lights. If you look under the hood and move the light by hand you will see which one is broken(I don't know if there is any way to fix it yourself but they are not expensive)

There are 2 arms that move the popup headlight that have built in plastic round pieces (like a ball and joint or similar to the rear hatch lift supports) that move when the motor is activated. They have some play in them like a side to side pivot but those plastic round ends get old, worn and crack. When removing them use some hand force to get it to pop off. The whole part -metal arm with each end having the plastic ball joint has to be purchased. It is not hard to replace especially on the non- battery side(driver side). There are 2 different sized arm mechanisms. Sorry I do not have the part #. I replaced mine at about the same point you are at since I did not want it to break and do some damage or get jammed somehow before dying. See if your Dealer will give an SCCA or Mazda Sports Car Club discount of 20% as some do.
