My guess they are like most all the other parts now days. I just replaced both shift cables on a Saturn because a similiar bushing failed. 170 bucks from the dealer, when the kid only needed a 50 cent part that you cannot buy.

I had the same problem when I put the headlight assemblys back in the widebody. Went through 3 complete assemblys one side because I couldn't get the arm off without breaking the bushing, or I couldn't get the headlight cover off. I finally just started taking arms off all of the spares until I found one that didn't break comming off or going back on. That was a frustrating day.

If some could find a replacement bushing that works, that would be great. Ours are just to old and brittle.

You can use rubber electrical grommets with a tiny bit of bubber grease. Grommets are under $2 and work perfectly.

Interesting idea Beef. How is the wear factor of the rubber compared to the had plastic?

polybushings

I asked Johnny Spiva at polybushings to look into making replacements for the headlight linkage bushings (and the wiper bushings) I will check with him to see if he has decided to make them. How many would buy these if they were available?
It looks like it may be possible to replace the linkage with theaded rods and heim joints but I have not tried it yet.

Better if anything, especially if you use a smear of grease.

Heim joints would probably work. Just need to remove the pivot ***** and replace them with a bolt for the heim.
