Headlight issue no high beams

Ok im driving along i turn my brights on and nothing, but when i pull the switch back they light up.

If i get them on after about 10 min they will just shut off.

Im wondering if there is a relay or resister or something that im just not seeing i have checked all the wires they are intact

Any ideas as to what it could be? Im stumped

I have been able to fix this problem by cleaning all the terminals on the fusible links and the box that holds them. If that fails you may have a problem inside the switch. Some people have been able to spray contact cleaner into the switch to get it to work. I like to remove and disassemble the switch to clean the contacts. Pictures are here...

Nick, you should have said something man. Stop by and I'll fix this up for you. I've got a writeup in the Archive section titled "How to solve your headlight headaches" or something like that.

The contacts in the switch are made cheap, and they develop corrosion. You grab a can of electrical cleaner and spray it into the switch where the contacts are, then work the switch around to clean off the corrosion. Takes a couple of minutes.

Only updates are:

1. Buy the cleaner at Autozone for half the price and twice the size that Radioshack has.

2. Probably not necessary to disassemble anything. Try putting the hose on the can, inserting it into the switch mechanism, and hose away.

Anyway, this process seems to work about 90% of the time. The other 10% need to take some of the parts off to get a good cleaning...

Get into the assembly behind the steering wheel and spray CRC on all the contacts, worked for me.

Kentetsu's write up has worked on four cars for me, and it's almost free.
