Headlight housing / bucket removal help

Ive searched the forum for quite a while now and cannot find any past threads about this. Can anyone explain to me, or point me towards a past thread that shows how to remove the headlight bucket? Mine was damaged thanks to an idiot backing into me, i have a new bucket, just need to figure out how to install. Thanks very much

It is actually pretty straight forward. I am guessing the reason you found nothing in the Archive here is because there has been no Asks about how this is done. Which I realize is not helpful.
I have attached the parts diagram for the headlight frame assy. I recall that it is held to the front apron panel via 4 bolts, 2 of which I think you need to access BELOW the light with in the fender's front nose area. You might be able to get at these by pulling the grille out, but it is easier if you remove the bottom nose panel that is bolted to the fender.

You will also need to remove the pivot-arm off the ball on the rear of the lamp housing that connects it to the motor. If done with care they can be re-used. The nylon joint on the arm can be fragile with age and if it breaks, the arm has to be replaced OR you can replace the nylon ball insert using a kit a forum member sells for about $20 (it includes the nylon insert for ALL the arms on both lights...)

Of course, I have no idea with the body damage how easy it will be to access all the mount hardware! Pics might help...

Actually, your REPLACEMENT piece will likely offer some clues about how it attaches too.

Sorry for the late reply, just wanted to say thank you for the help, much appreciated. I would post pictures, but they wouldnt help much. The car has since been repaired, everything turned out great, except for the headlight bucket. The body shop attempted to reuse the damaged bucket, and the plastic cover that surrounds the headlight lens itsnt lining up correctly.

No worries, glad to assist. That is what this Forum is about, z.
As to the pranged bucket assy, just replace it! -scads of these FS on ebay, and from RXs being parted out over in the Parts For Sale Forum-
if you have the body all fixed, swapping in a better bucket will be a snap.
