Not sure if these or similar have been posted before, but they are fairly cheap.
Probably not the best light pattern, but.
The seller states they are OE replacments. They don't have a set for 1st gens.
If we could find a source for the lights alone (without the surround) we would have something cheap to start with.

What is so wrong about pop up head lights???? I get more attention with the pop ups.

I think too many people own a RX-7 And they really want something else.
7=pop up lights

LED circuits are not that hard to make.

choose a bulb style add a ballast resistor in series with the bulb ( see the spec sheet for the manufacturer - do a search ), add a connector.

make a pattern to hold the array of bulbs and add a reflective coat to the lens side of the pattern.

fab an install where the incandescent went....done.

but you have all the incandescents to do ...so its a good winter project

You do have a point there...
The main reason why I consider trying something flush mount, is that by ditching the pop-ups, I can clean the engine bay up. You can forget about those motors in that case, and I notice many of them get a bit unreliable after 25 years... Mine go up no problem, but one of them comes down ony when it feels like it (sometimes after five mintes, sometimes after a day)
But with the price of quality small headlights I'll probable get a set of working motors instead of going flush mount.

led tail lights

I just added LED tail lights to my car. My stock tailights were junk plus I wanted a different look. You can check them out at www.myspace.com/frankenmazda
Along with all the other mods I have in the works right now.

I think I'm going to keep the pop-up headlights. I kinda like those and my motors work fine.

No sir, I like my 7. If I wanted something else I would have it.
Many people mod their cars with different body kits, colors, wheels, interior.
All that takes the car away from original, and personalizes it.
