Headlamp Washer Jets
Is anyone familiar with the headlamp washer jets that were mounted on a few 1st Gen RX-7s? I need pictures, information or anything else that will help me run the tubing and wiring. I also need to know how these jets are supposed to engage, i.e., with the windshield washer switch or via another switch. Thanks, your help is appreciated.

The fluid reservoir is mounted just behind and below the right headlight. You might have noticed a little hole there. That is where the opening of the reservoir comes through into the engine bay. From there the tubing simply runs to each of the nozzles.
The washer pump is activated by the switch in the center console that flips the headlights up. It is acutally a muli-switch with four positions- up/down for the headlights and two to activate the washer pump. It's kinda hard to explain but it's designed so you can activate the pump when you have the headlights flipped up via the switch in the steering column or via the console switch.

hey 85rx7gs, in my 83's manual it says that they are controlled by the same switch that makes the lights go up but not on. you press it and it will spring back, like the rear window washer switch that we put in your car. So i'd assume that 85 is similar to my car just a different lookin' switch

Yeah, but the jets wern't offered on US model cars. Candian GSL- and -SE models, as well as Brittish, Austrailian and J-SPEC models.
But revhead is right. It's activated by hitting the headlight up/down switch backwards...

The headlights have their own resevoir just in front of the air cleaner on my '85 SE. That's the right front corner of the car, just behind the bumper. The winshield resevoir is seperate and farther back.
I'll try and get some pics up a bit later.
