Here is my beginnings of the header out of fiberglass...you have to look close to see the red marker holes. The second pic is of the first fiberglass header panel ready to be cut and make a mold out of.

yeah, i thought about this too, and i think i am going to make some holes fire wall right infront of the cowl... that way, the air would flow out of the engine bay, into the cowl, and out of the open cowl.... anyone ever tried this?

I think an outlet is more important.

If the goal is cold air for the intake, you don't need to cut the nose panel to get.

If the goal is cool the engine bay generally, then it is a much better idea to vent out the hot air than try to cram in more cold air. (1) It is more effective, since at speed air is already flowing through the bay - the hot air already rises in the bay, it just needs to escape; (2) increasing the frontal area of the car to such a degree is costing you some performance due to increased drag coefficient.

I have not seen one race RX-7 that takes itself seriously that has embarked on this kind of mod.

ooh yeah... make sure it flows in right... it could cause turbulance and bounce the air back out causing drag...

I am just trying to get hot air out of the engine area. The thing about drag coefficient.....in autocrossing that is not an issue......in drag racing we have found it is not an issure until you get over 90mph and even then it is so slight it really does not out weigh what we are doing improving the cooling.

what is the status on those valence pannels?
i need to relocate my oil cooler and was thinking about putting it up there, and using those vents for air flow.

Agree, autocrossing is different - the race RX-7s I was referring to are circuit cars, where you are above 90mph fairly often.

Screen isn't rice IMO... It keeps leaves and kittens and **** outta your car...

Just like the turn signals/marker lights that go on your fender, between the front wheel and the door... Builds your case against the bitch in the SUV on the Cell Phone who didn't see you...

Yeah, I'd certianly put screens on my car if I had those. You don't want trash flying through your radiator at 100mph and causing damage. I'd much rather the screen catch stuff. I'd paint it black though, chrome may be a little rice...
