Did you take that big center bolt out? That holds the three pieces of the carb together.

Some pictures for when you get the top off.

I tried prizing the top off mine after I got the screws out. Just about screwed it up before I figured out the center bolt has to come out

I did mine on a large white table (white makes it easier to see the small pieces of course). It may help to take pictures on a digital camera and have a computer with the pictures loaded near by. Take notes too! I didn't have any emissions attached to the carb when I took it apart, which made it much easier.
Thats the best I can offer. It really isn't that hard to accomplish, just take a deep breath, be confident and think positive
Good luck

Yeh that's how I know about the center bolt too. Rondabout has the right idea, you can do it, especially if I can do it.

And yeh, there's more stuff on carbs on this forum than you can shake a stick at, do a seach.

The first time is always a little scary, but it just gets easier and better after that. But if you start doing it just for the fun of it and decide to try out that stripped Nikki idea, you might want to do something about your habit bdfore it gets you in trouble:

I tried prying mine apart with a wedge and a shop hammer. It wasn't pretty, and I was getting pi$$ed!

Then I realized that bolt had to come out.

My wife called me a dumbass for not reading the carb manual better

Out of curiosity, what did they charge you for the rebuild. Very few shops will touch a rotary and usually one look at a stock Nikki, they go run and hide, lol.

Yeah, I couldn't find a shop within a hundred miles that would touch mine.. so I got good at rebuilding them. Heck, the carb manual makes it easier than anything.

Also the rebuild kit usually has a brief but useful set of instructions that are user friendly.
