Haven't been on in a while..

Ok, so the title of this post is untrue. I've been stalking the forum more than a teenie bopper Paris Hilton wannabe stalks Myspace.com. But have gotten a lot of work done to my 7 since i last posted

So far I've:
Changed the oil, added a new oil filter, put on a new air filter, got new plugs, wires, points, and condenser, I've fixed my lopsided driver's seat, patched my crusty shift boot and connected it to what i like to call "the shift boot / coin holder surrounder dealy."

And today, my new PBR deluxe plus organic front brake pads and generic "asbestos free" rear shoes came in the mail, all of which I hope to install and if anyone wants, I can take pics and or do a write up.

So after doing all this work I decided to take it on the longest drive its been on in a few years to get a real feeling of this car. I went on a 140 mile trip to my girlfriends house in Bel Air, MD and back to my house in Damascus, MD. Mind you, this is being done with almost toast brakes, and the chop-shop special exhaust aka Black Dragon Header (P.O.S, i hate it!!) no thermal reactors, no pre-silencer, straight back to a Mieneke "We'll replace it as long as you own the car, but we no longer have this type of muffler so well weld a Ford Festiva Muffler on there even if its all tiny (tin-y, ten-ee, not small) sounding and will blow out soon" muffler. I need to get a new muffler!! I've been looking all over for magnaflow, borla, etc, but would like to find an inexpensive stainless steel packed muffler that will sound good and hold up to the heat of the system. Basically I am on the uber quest to find what I would call "the God Muffler."

So, all in all the car did great (minus the constant tiny drone) made the trip and even withstood some clutch abuse on my girlfriends part (probably wont let her drive the 7 again untill she practices on her dads CR-V some more )

This forum has been great, I've learned so much and will learn much more, THANKS GUYS!!

Thanks for the compliments guys, I really do appreciate it!!

Wanna talk about marginal brakes? I drove my 73 Volkswagen Super Beetle for 2 days on stock drum brakes that weren't bled correctly and had NO pad life on them, talk about scared out of my mind! But then the disc brake kit came in, making it acceptable in the braking department

Hell yeah dude, I'll be up there all the time this summer. I'm warning you though, I only know how to get to her house and back, anywhere else I'll have to call upon her to help me get there haha.

So this week begins the BIG body work project. After scoping out the entire car, I've figured out what I need to do ASAP. First off, the damage to the front fender will be fixed with a replacement (dear Lord, send Crazy Rays Junkyard a 1979-1980 Mazda Rx7 with no damage to the drivers side front fender!), the rear hatch area has rust from the gathering of water over time, front valence replacement needs to be done, OH YEAH, I also found out why theres always a toxic odor of what I could call "gasoline mixed with rotary exhaust" - smell permeating the cabin. I originally had thought that this was because of small holes in the rear tire well areas, that would be allowing exhaust in. This was not, but could probably still be, part of the case. I found a big ole hole the size of a golf ball in the passenger side floor!! Im assuming theres supposed to be a rubber stop or something there?!? Seriously, how long has this thing been there!! So I'm sorta panicked now, but it looks like the rust hasn't spread far, if much at all.

Do you guys think i should just cut it out and weld in a patch?

Eh, oh well, for now, i have a piece of rubber crammed in there with a piece of sheet metal just chilling on top of that. *cough* ghetto *cough*

Anywho, its time to invest in sandpaper and grind wheels and all that jazz. Yipee for me
