Has anyone ever replaced the Sub-Zero Oil thermo unit with oil temp probe?

Curious if anyone has ever replaced their Sub-Zero oil thermo unit with an oil temperature sending unit for use with a gauge?

I've wanted to install an oil temperature gauge for some time now but would rather not use an adapter on the beehive between the oil filter. I hadn't realized that the Sub-Zero switch was in the oil pan until tonight and was thinking that might be a good location.

If you've done this mod, can you please let me know what thread size the thermo unit has and if it is deep enough in the oil pan to use for a temp sending unit.

I did this. i just tapped it out to whatever size NPT fit and threaded the mechanical gauge's bulb adapter into it.
