Hankook Ventus R-S2's

I tried to read up on these tires a little before I bought them and apparently they are fairly good tires, comparable with the azenis rt615....and I chose these because they seemed like they would be more reasonable on the street. I'm not terribly worried about longevity, thus why I chose a high-performance tire, but I was curious to see if any of you guys have run these on your street car? Hopefully they will last a ...little while...lol Oh well, just curious.

Cant wait to see these on my freshly painted SA. (Along with new trim and such )

I know nothing about the tires either, but they look like they would be grip-happy. And I like the rims, I wish mine looked that good.

Oh yeah, and I was curious. Did you buy tires for a 13 inch rim or for a 14 inch rim? I am just curious because they are the same rims I have, but the tires on mine were for a 13, but I was told they were 14's.

HMM, I didn't realize you could buy tires that aren't the same size. Well these tires are 195/60/14's if that helps. Can you show a pic of how your 13in tires look on the 14in wheels?

I have had them on my SE wheels for about six months now. The Hankooks have good grip, good turn-in response, they are quite and they are very smooth, plus, they are a good looking tire. Overall, they are a good street tire and I could assume that they will be good on the track.

I have not used them on the track yet, but for the track I prefer the Toyo RA1's.

I didn't put **** on the car, the guy who I bought it from 4 months ago had these tires on them. I am just going by what the tire size said. 185/65/13. I thought it was hardcore weird myself, but I figured he is the one that bought the rims, maybe he knew something I didn't about them. I'll be buying new tires soon enough though, and when I do I'll be ordering them for a 14 rather than a 13 inch wheel.

You better take good look at those rims. 13 inch tires cannot be put on a 14 inch rim, nor can a 14 inch tire be put on a 13 inch rim.
I would venture to guess that you likely have 13x5.5 or 13x6 aftermarket rims, not the 14" LE rims. Somewhere on the rim, it should have the size cast or stamped into it.

Or I was just being a total dumbass and got the rims/tires on my '83 confused with my rims/tires on my '84. Yeah, I'm a dumbass. They are 14's. 185/65/14's. Haha feel free to flame me into nonexistence now.

Mistakes happen. Admitting to making a mistake creates character. We all make mistakes, but few will admit to them.
People have been hurt/maimed/killed trying to put tires on the wrong size rims.

Hey, quick question for ya FoozBerries. What is the largest tire you can get away w/ fitting on the LE rims? is 195 the thickest or can you safely squeeze 205s on there?

BTW wheels and tires look great! Good luck w/ them!

I would like to know where you got them and how much they cost. My back tires are about gone on my '84, and those look like they would be good replacements for the BFGoodrich Traction T/A H's on there now.

Yeah, yeah. Falken's... why didn't I think of going up to 205's? We need more white FB's with '83 LE wheels, by the way.

Wasn't the 205/60-14 the standard size for the LE?
I have Falken's as well. 205/50-15 When they're done, I'm going to replace with Kumho ecsta SPT's. They look quite similar to the hankook's, as far as tread pattern goes.

I thought that 195's were the stock size, but they very well could have been 205. I don't know why mine are only 185's.

And where did you get Falken's at? I've never needed to go out and buy performance tires before, but now I need some stickier rubber and don't know where to find the Hankook's or Falkens.

Well, I ordered my tires from http://www.edgeracing.com/tires/1956014/ and it came out to $270 shipped. It cost me approximately $50 to have them mounted and balanced, so that was still a good bit cheaper than the man on the phone from discounttires told me it would be. He quoted something like $400 so I just had edge racing send these to my door. I probably should have got 205's but I was worried about rubbing. These 195's are fine, but when I turn the steering wheel in sharp, parking lot turns, it kinda scrubs a little. How much would I gain from the extra 10mm of width?

OH! And I almost got some Falkens. But not what you have. haha, these were what I was looking at >>>>>>

The only reason I got the hankooks was because they looked a little more streetable. I mean, the price was almost identical. Those falkens are supposedly a notch better (GRM did a test, but IIRC the hankooks came in a close 2nd)
