hang it!
I just picked up a racing beat header bolted to a custom 2.5" pipe welded to a muffler. I was wondering how the hell the guy got it in there
I can only assume that he did it with the pieces in the car when he welded them. I don't want to use the shell that the exhaust is in. I can unbolt the header from the pipe but I was wanting an opinion as to my next move. Do you guys think it would be worth it to drop the rear end to get it out and upgrade the suspension on the car I'm going to put it on while I'm dropping the rear end? Or do you guys think that I should just cut it off and re-weld it. Part 2 of the last question: do you guys think that a muffler shop would be able to weld a flange there in case I ever want to take it off to swap back in the smog stuff for emmissions purposes? Both cars are GSL-SE's. Thanks guys

I think the best thing to do is cut it right before it goes over the axle. Make sure its on a straight parts, and then buy the clamps to clamp it on together or you can have it rewelded. But if you want to take it out as a whole , and a change all your suspension this is a good time too. It would be easier to do it as a whole
Cutting it in front of the axle, and having a muffler shop weld flanges on would be the quickest way to go. Most muffler shops will have flanges they can use, along with a gasket to go between them.
Raising the rear of the car, and allowing the rearend to drop to it's lowest position (disconnecting the shocks may help) might allow you to get it under the car, with any luck.
