currently I am trying to modify two of the oil coolers from a 3 rotor cosmo to fit in. (they only come with one stock) I got them from the last two cosmos I parted out.

I put a koyo copper 2 core radiator in and it was still running hot at the track last year, so this month I am fabbing up mounting brackets and lines for two mondo oil coolers.

will post more photos when I can steal the camera from my wife.... Being japanese I think of it as a permanent attachment to her hand

SSR and watanabes are two of the best looking wheels IMO

but id have to say the SSR's probably suit your car better

hell, try them both, whichever ones you like the least, send them my way

also, those do resemble epilsons a lot

The SSR mesh is all too common, and the Watanabe's aren't bannana shaped like Panasports so they look cleaner.

I prefer the Watanabes.

Oh I agree, the Panasports look great.

But put them side to side with Watanabe's. The watanabes are just tube spokes, the Panasports are banana spokes. That's all I'm saying. They look cleaner without the banana spokes.

Kenn, very nice setup on the exterior. I am curious as to how you are going take the front end off. I noticed that the entire front is molded.

Honestly all I have done so far was the 13bt swap, 90 S-5 engine with Power FC and FMIC. cosmo fuel pump.

Suspension, tokiko's illuminas with custom springs, and full (litterally full) heim joints at all pivot points (minus rear watts link) and roll cage. the best is yet to come, when I repaint I am looking at making it look just like the 83~85 Mazda Factory Race (mazda speed) race cars of the era.

I bought the car with the body kit molded in, and am currently saving cash to remake the front. basically my plan is to cast a 3 piece mold of the front with it seperating (unbolting) at the same location as the 2nd gen front bumper would.

its kind of hard to explain but basically identical to current but three pieces: left fender, right fender front center section with bumper and nose panel as one piece.

anybody got any photos of the old mazda speed cars?

It would fit, but nothing out there aftermarket or other wise compares to the size of the JC cosmos oil cooler. The cosmo came with one oil cooler stock and its square 12 x 14 x 2.5 I have two of them and just fitted them under the bumper in the corners last night, more photos to follow

basically anybody that has a one piece front air dam bumper combo could fit them in, you just need to turn them (cosmo type) at an angle and they fit perfect.

kenn

edit: the JC cosmo oil coolers have a built in thermostat, and bypass section, So you would not have to worry about over cooling etc.

there are a few, and as a result prices are at a premium here, I have bought a lot of parts from the states becasue it was cheaper. Fortunatly for me, being a us citizen and working on the Naval Base here it has saved me as I can USPS small parts.

most of the younger crowd prefer the FD, or the RX-8, while both of them are very capable cars, I want to build my car so that it can win against them on the track while still retaining the old school flavor (looks wise)

Kenn, how do you remove the front of the car now? If you are familiar with the old Jaguar XKEs, the entire front end rotated forward. There are hinge kits available for custom street rods that allow you to do the same thing. Might be someting to look into and save all of that molding. I thought about doing that for my widebody, had too much other work to do on it to add another 'step' in the build process.

Even if your wheels aren't Epsilons, I still like them. lol
