Hahahaha poor mans turbo boost!

Hahaha I know this probably wouldnt make much of a difference at all with a stock alternator(maybe a later model or higher amperage), and is a prety stupid idea but when I was looking over the prison style power thread it hit me!, Someone on the quest for every last ounce of horsepower should hook up some sort of relay system to the alternator so that you could temporarily disable the alternator and just run off the battery. Im sure as long as you didnt drive like that too long you should be fine, and you might have an extra horse or two? hahahaha..........

I dont see how having the altinator stop generating power would create horsepower, unless the belt is taken off.

but the belt would still be running the alt so in turn you would pick up no more power and have just a dead battery.

You could do it with a relay and WOT switch If you hook a relay to the alternator output wire to shut that off, and another to the field coil(2 wires on the back of alt) then the alternator should just rotate but not make any power. But you'll probably get a lot less life from your battery and only get maybe 2hp.

I was exspecting a leaf blower. The more load that is put on the ALT the harder the system must work. IIRC the alt is harder or takes more work to turn something like that. So the less amps it must put out the less drain there is on the motor creating a few more HP. If you dont run a Efan you will probly only see like <1hp without headlights on. A good fan will pull around 3 to 7hp but e-fans only run when needed.

All you need to do is run a relay to the exciter wire.

my dad used to do this on old hot rods. you notice a difference, but it is nowhere close to turning off the ac and accelerating. not sure exactly what he used to do it, but i know it involved a switch. if anyone is interested i can check and see what all was used

i've never done it despite his medeling because i am afraid i would forget to turn it back on or something and kill the battery. my 0.02
