to H_ _L with emissions equipment

Iv'e got an 85 12a. My state does not require emissions testing. So I want to get rid of the stuff that is not needed. The only thing the inspection covers is the cat. converter. So everything in the engine compartment is fair game. I would think the car would run better, and have a slight boost in power. If you've done this or have any thoughts on the idea, Please let me know.

Thanx, FOR ANY AND ALL INPUT

The only reason to remove the emissions is when you ditch the cat and air pump... after they're gone, it's no longer needed... if you've gotta keep the cat, keep the rest of the stuff and just put new vacuum hoses on it..

By "the inspection" I'd assume you mean your safety check to get it licenced. If I were you, I'd get it safetied and licenced first, then take out:

1. Rat's Nest
2. Air Pump and ACV
3. Catalytic Converters

And grab yourself a good header and presilencer from www.racingbeat.com . That's when you'll notice the improvement caused by the lack of resistance from the air pump, and the free-flowing exhaust.

There's a full colour pictured tutorial on how to remove the rat's nest, ACV and air pump here:

The cats you can do yourself. Until you can take the cats out, the rest isn't worth doing.
