I dont know personally but my friend has "claimed" 142MPH. He did a full TII swap. the power numbers seem possible. I dont know if I believe it though.

Nope. It isn't. But I am welding in my Intecooler piping this weekend.

Not too much left.

Maybe by the new year?

The problem is a fully modified Cosmo, as you have.will reach 160mph, but the aerodynamic shape of the FB makes it unstable above about 130-135mph.

My NA 12A can reach 130mph on a road I drive on, dead straight slightly downhill for 45 miles with no traffic. But at that speed the front end gets so light you need to drive down the middle of the road to take care of its looseness in steering. I could push it faster but control rapidly deminishes.

Above about 130 mph safe topspeed becomes a function of the effectiveness of the front air dam and rear spoiler, plus the slow reaction time of the gen 1 steering and the degrees of slop in the steering.
system.

In reality I think adding an upgraded turbo engine will dramatically improve acceleration times over the 1/4 , but the topspeed will not significantly change as the power potential is not matched by the roadholding ability. The exception would be if the body was really lowered with rockhard shocks and a flat smooth road or salt flat Add a helmet and cageroll then 160 mph is feasible. Otherwise trade up to a hot FD!

I've had mine to around 140mph and it still felt stable. That's with the factory rear spoiler, Koni shocks, lowered springs and urethane bushes.

Rice Racing has seen a genuine 200mph in his first gen with no body mods and nothing drastic in the suspension department either.

Just a set of big brass *****!

I think I'll try for a top speed run after I fix my steering.

REVHED, have you seen Rice's car? Just looking at it tells you it's got some suspension work goin' on.

Of course, it might not have, when he was doing those speeds. I don't think he's had it on a track for awhile.

Clocked 153 by a police buddy (you should've seen his face - I didn't tell him why I wanted him at location X with his radar) after a 2+ mile run which ended in a beautiful downhill sprint. Stock 85 GSL with manual transmission.

I was young and stupid then, but with an airdam and spoiler, you should feel more grounded at high speeds.

Sounds like you are making some real progress. Must be getting close if you are plumbing your I/C tubing.

Yep. Little by little, the pieces are falling into place.
I need an aluminum flange for my BOV. Make my Down Pipe, finish the Haltech Wiring, put the fuel tank back up, and put the driveshaft in.

Hopefully I will be able to at least start the engine before the new year.

After it's running, I will get the IC piping, intake and alternator polished.

BTW, I went to order the driveshaft - the shop is closed till the 1st of Dec. Crap.

Well you got me beat. I'm still tring to make my damn turbo header. I practiced TIG welding the other day and got the hang of it but I still need to find a way to back purge the tubes as I weld it to get those bad *** welds. Hopefully I'll have it done before x-mas then I can start doing the exhaust and I/C tubing. I'm waiting on the HITman to e-mail me back to tell me he has a E11 waiting for me to get started on that end, should be fun when I get that

when I brought my car up to brainerd raceway we were rallying up there.

at first i coulnt keep up worth ****. toping at 125 is **** when you going against ferraris and RUF turbo Rs

so, the person that invited my up there, told me to draft behind him.

I had to deal with the loud smelly(but beutifull) open exhaust of a 60s 250 GTO short wheel base

6500 in fifth. im guessing about 130-35

very shaky though.

Quickest timed was 133mph on my 10.32 run. I pulled 4th just before I went over the line.

I would say I have had the car out past 250km/hr though. Feels alot safer with the lower suspension that when it was stock! I had one moment with it stock, got to 210 and the front tried to lift off

Its funny though, Rice and I have the same gearing and for me to see 200mph would mean like 10000rpm in 5th....
