guys need help
Well I'm at a tough spot in my project now my engine is blown so that leaves two option.
1. Do I buy a used rotary from a friend for $200 but no gaurentee its good or...
2. Swap in a 4.3l gm and a t5 trans for around $600-$800 for both engine and trans gaurentee they are good with 1 year warrantee.
Really tough decision for me some different outlooks would help
Thanks guys

#1. No question.
The rotary is the soul of the car. Besides, they're so easy to swap in and out, and so modular, that you could "try out" another junkyard 13B or two for the price of the piston swap.

I was in your shoes a little over a year ago. I put in a very questionable motor and it turns out the oil control rings are worn. It smokes quite a bit at start up. I use heavy weight oil to keep the smoking down. I have not regretted my decision to put it in though. It buys you time, allows for the car to be moved around while you come up with a more permanent solution: i.e. rebuild your motor, upgrade to an S4 or S5, etc. I found another engine with far fewer miles that I have yet to put in. Keeping it rotary is the best option, but I would never knock anyone for putting something else in to keep their car going. I love mine and If I had to do that to keep it on the road, I would. But, it is actually cheaper to keep it rotary! Good luck!

Only reason I say its blown is because of the fact it was locked up then I got it broken free and it has no compression on the rear rotor. Obviously the apex seals are gone but I have no clue how bad the housing is
But I'm picking up the "new" 13b this weekend
