Guys with mariah 1 widebodies?

Can you drive your car anywhere, when I drive mine, I clean the pavement with the freaking frontend! Maybe i need stiffer springs on the front or something?

Well, I have a 1982 with Mode one widebody and custom sideskirts/steps. The car is lowered with RB springs, and rides on 15" wheels (225 wide allround).
I can drive my car anywhere, but must watch out for driveways etc. If they are to high (and most are) I'll have the front scraping the ground. Clearnace isn't really good. We also have a lot of "bumps" that are there to lower your speed (very european..) and those must be tackled rather slowly. Other then that no real problems.

My ground clearance can be best summed up by this. Take your foot turn it sideways, and the it wont fit under the front air dam. I scrape just about anywhere I turn, its annoying.

I have'nt put a suspension on my car yet, but I'm sure when I do it might scrape. I'm not sure If I'm going with 17's or 18's, so that might be a factor. As of now the car is pretty high, so I have'nt had a problem.

Mike, i think just about any type of front airdam, even with 15's, 16's and even 17's it won't matter if the profile of the tire is small. The tire profile is one thing that gives the front 'clearence' . On my 82 with the mode four i've got 6 3/4 inch clearance up front, with 15' inch wheels and 225/50/15's, stock springs too. Your just gonna have to deal with it, you know for a airdam to work right it has to be close to the ground,,,,right ?

Mine's not a Mariah, but it's the original Mazda Factory Racing kit... and when I had the airdam on there before the wreck, it would really only scrape when I hit speed bumps, or going into the driveway. And it was a quiet scrape... not a gigantor ripping sound.

I ordered a Erebuni kit and it should come in any day now... my driveway alone is a god damn mine field with potholes... rocks... sticks... hills... bumps... and i was wondering how to prevent the front from getting damaged...

For those steep transitions- take them slow and at an angle.

My '84 car has been lowered and has a fiberglass spoiler with a rubber skirt on it. You can see it on page 3 of my website - click on the "www" below.

Maybe I can attach a file....
<edit> guess not

but you can go here also...

at least for the time being.
