Gutted Interior Q's

Two quick questions:

1) does anyone have any pics of a gutted FB interior? preferably with a rollcage

2) does anyone daily drive a gutted car or a gutted car w/ a rollcage? i hear (no pun intended) its terrible but just wondering

I have a FB with a gutted interior. The only problem is that I want to un-gut the interior, actually.

I got it in fairly bad disrepair. If you want, I'll try to take some pictures of it later to e-mail or whatnot. Almost all the back is gone (down to side panaling with speakers and the rubber carpet-pad) and the storage boxes are lidless and without covering.

Most of the noise, though, comes from the door seals that are shot, as opposed to lack of sound dampening.

... and I wish I had a rollcage installed. And a brace...

My current project is gutting and will stay that way.

You really should have a reason to justify a roll cage though, the cars are pretty well built.

You learn that early on when you drive a 50% or more race car daily. I remember having mine in its final stages of street legality (barely hanging onto it) - there was no radio, no a/c, no heat, a jarring ride, and absolutley no conversation below a scream. Not to mention the downtime during upgrades, or the unwanted attention/inability to blend in.

My piece of advice: keep the daily driver separate of the race car.

I have a couple of friends that are alive because they had a cage in the daily driver. One flipped his car about a million times going down hill(only reason the car stopped was because he finally hit a ditch), and other was t-boned on the driver's side by a bitch that ran a red light.

I think what he was trying to say is cracking your head open on a rollcage would be just as lethal as the roof crushing over your head.

Padding should help.. just make sure you have enough. Driving my FB, the skinny A pillars don't really inspire confidence in case of rollover.. not to mention that Contours and Cavaliers tower over me

I have an 83 FB that is mostly gutted, expecially in the back. Lots of noise, but I don't care, the car is so much fun to drive. At 64.5 years old, the wife, 19 year old son, friends who are rebuilding a 95 T-Bird in my garage all think I am crazy. They just do not understand, it's a rotary thing.

ya I think that a roll cage is only needed if your going to do some serious racing. Mines gutted but not for a roll cage. I'm giving my interior a new dye job to bring it back to life.
