Guess who's back again... again

Engine was torn down again due to excessive oil smoking, housings lapped, oil control rings replaced, oil pump replaced, eshaft replaced. Porting expanded slightly.

Double pulley added. Changing from yohoo belt to double belts

Old oil control rings believed to be responsible for internal oil leaking

that is a nice looking engine!!! i hope you have the problem sorted out and that the control rings were the problem. usually thats what would cause excessive smoking and internal leaks looks really great though!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it's alive! engine fired up with ease, and after warming up, no more smoke! Now I just have to solve a little idle issue, probably a vacuum leak. Break in begins!

doesn't the yoohoo belt give you more contact on the water pump's pulley than a double pulley? its not the alternator i'm worried about slipping lol

Yeah. It also has the potential to trash bearings, as you can't adjust the belt tension.

Double alt and drop the clutch fan in favor af an electric. You should be fine.

Looks good. Why did you have to replace the E-Shaft.

Replacing the e-shaft was the builder's decision. He'd do that if it wasn't within specs.

Found the idle problem, with RX7carl's help. The rear bowl float and needle was sticking, flooding the engine with gas when it wasn't supposed to. And it looked a lot like a vacuum leak. But it wasn't.

pretty cool, I love the way rotarys look when they are painted like that. I put a new used engine in my car a couple weeks ago, I just wish I had the time to tear it appart and paint it to make it look awesome like that. Hopefully all your smoking problems will be fixed. One thing you gotta love about these cars is how easily it is to take the motor out/drop it in without all the emissions and stock crap that they come equipped with.

Yeah, actually the intake ports were extended a little bit more after that pic...

The exhaust ports are D shapped, maybe in the pics is not too clear.

could it possibly be the port size? just in case you start to drive yourself crazy if you don't find a vacuum leak.

No. As I said earlier, it turned out to be a stuck float needle causing the rear bowl to overflow. Engine now idles purrrfectly
