Guaging Interest

Okay I've got two items I am guaging interest for. Item one are S5/S7 style round taillights. We've worked out the problems and have devised a way to make them look completely OEM. These can be made with clear outer lense to make the circles plainly visible or can be blacked out to your specification(with or without refelctor masking). The next item are flush mount headlights. Now with these I want to hear what you guys would like to see in a flushmount design, what type of materials, what type of lights, what style lights, etc. Remember your feed back goes into these designs so let's hear some thoughts!!

Um how about re-read the post. I actually want people's inputs on what they want for a headlight, not just if they want one. If you have no constructive input into the products, don't post.

I have nothing constructive to say other than to chill out, this is not the 2nd or 3rd gen Forum. Barking at potential customers like a leg humping dog, won't get you any nice comments, or input.

I was just refering to the other thread so that you can search through there and look at everyone elses opinions because during the time of the thread, people were very helpful on ideas. Just my 2c. To me, the weight wouldnt really matter, so thick sheet metal would be fine to me, or aluminum, id be afraid that carbon or something may crack.

Best idea I've heard yet LOL. So what would you guys like to see for lights or style of lights? What would you guys like to see for mounting as opposed to cutting the frame? We're going to offer many different versions of the kit so we're just looking into imput on how you guys want different version to be.

No one wants to cut any original sheetmetal if possible. Bolt-on would be the best IMO, and would allow less chance for screwups; even if you had to drill and tap new mounting points.

Right now we're only want to have to drill mounting holes at most but are trying our hardest for not even that

Drilling mounting holes is great. I'd like not to cut into the metal just in case I don't like the look on my car.

Some Bright white headlights are prefferable. Dual on each side with the outer on each setting back if you can picture it.

The visible part of the light should be wraped in fiberglass with the fiberglass then covering the rest of the encloser like this one. If you can imagine the outer lights on each one sitting farther back serving as highbeams.

A plexiglass top should be optional similar to the design Jose Feliciano Has (I'm not sure the brand but I'm guessing cp racing). All of which should be afforable and shipped promptly (lol @ cp racing)

Just a suggestion.

My Opinion on the roundtailights are if you can make them look compltely stock, then when the lights are on the sahpe is round, I'm all down for a set.

Thanks Nector, good input. I can definitely visualize what you have in mind. As for the taillights: without the clear outter lense blacked out you will be able to see that the lights are round ala S5/S7. Although if you want the lights to look completely stock without blacking out the outter lense it would take a little different approach but I feel it's possible. Just let me know how you would like them done. I'm hoping to get a prototype made within the next week for the taillights so you guys can see how they look.

I can see what you're saying about the rear tailights. I guess to each his own.

I wouldn't mind having the rear tailights look modified as long as the look "apear" to be stock. I wouldn't want a large peice of Fiberglass/carbon fiber over the outside of my tail lights (I didn't buy a honda). But I what I hope you're trying to say is that you're fabricating a peice to fit INSIDE on the tail lights giving them a round look, sort of like the reverse of the stencil most people use when they're blacking out they're tail lights in an archive I read here.

The headlight idea is great, but the taillight idea I'd honestly have to see to get a good idea and give my tumbs up or down on.

I also think price is a huge object when it comes to things like this. I understand that you have to make some sort of profit in order to keep some money in your wallet but I'm sure you can understand that most 1st gen. owners aren't STI,EVO,S200 and FD owners. But if the quality is right then the price is in your hands.

Keep us posted on any progress. I'm sure we'll be here to help with the constructive critisim.

The taillights will definitely appear to be OEM and not aftermarket or modified. We're actually coming up with new designs as well so we're going to make a couple of different prototypes. We'll definitely keep you guys posted

I'm especially interested in the headlights, as mine suddenly ceased to retract and I haven't yet gotten around to try to fix them... and ~Nector_Rivera~ definately has the right idea.

I'm going to be going to a larger turbo ('85 GS w/ S5 13bt swap) setup and the area behind the headlights (especially on the passenger side) will be at a primium, because I think I'm going to have to redo my IC piping to make room for the air filter.

Basically I'd be very interested in going with a set of your headlights because of the added bonus of losing the things that pop the lights up and down.

Nector's ideas seem to be spot on.

Good luck with the prototyping ... I can't wait to see the tails too
