GSLSE S4 T2 swap-What fuel pump?

Hello,
After a few searches, I'm more undecided than ever.

I have an 85 gslse with an s4 t2 swap in progress. I'm debating what fuel pump to use. I would like to keep it inline, and in the factory location. I know alot of you are running the walbro 255 pump, but I've heard a lot of bad things about them. I'm wondering what other pumps people have tried. I.E. Bosch 044, Carter, Mallory etc. Can anyone provide some insight on the installation, and what modifications or special fittings were required. Are you happy with the setup? Anything you would do different? How long have you had your pump installed?

Any info is appreciated.
Thanks,
Anthony

The MSD 2225 is the pump you should get. You can find it for about 100 on eBay easily. It is the inline style and will fit in the stock location but you might need to get kind of creative. Maybe reuse the GSL-SE pump holder. It has brass nipples with mild barbs making fuel line installation universal and easy in my opinion.

My GSL-SE has the MSD 2225 and I've been very happy with it. Has plenty of flow for the S5 turbo on a blow through Nikki.

Stay away from the walbro. It is way too powerful for the stock fpr and you'll have all kinds of flooding problems. Its base pressure is like 60psi according to Karack. My car used to have a walbro and it caused problems with EFI and the current carb setup.

I have no experience with the other pumps you asked about.

I ran the stock S4 TII pump on its original hanger in the stock location. That worked really well for me, can't speak for everyone else. Walbro 255 was my next upgrade, glad I didn't make it there if it's really that bad!

That's exactly the kind of answers I was looking for. Thanks Jeff20B!

Yeah me too, if I would have had problems I would not have been a happy camper. I've heard that they're extremely loud too so I know I wouldn't have liked that part of it. But it didn't really have an exhaust on it at the time so the only thing you could hear was the fury of turbocharged rotary anyways Oh, and your passenger complaining about how they felt like they were melting

Walbro 255 great pump. I have inline 3/8 lines. No issues. I do however have an aftermarket rising rate bypass FPR.

I am running a GSL392 (aka Walbro 255lph) pump in my NA swapped 1st gen. the only issue I really ran into with the stock fuel parts on the engine was the idle A/F mixtures being too rich. luckily I was able to tune it back with a SAFC, but anything off idle wasnt a problem. before when i was carbed, I needed an aftermarket FPR and 1/2" lines to regulate it down to the good ole 2-3psi that webers like....lol
