Gslse electrical problems
I have a 1984 Gslse i have had it for about a year. Just recently the oil cooler blew and i had the car sitting for a while, i replaced it and the car is up and running fine now. However when i went out driving one night i had to turn on the headlights and i blew the fuse that runs the tail lights and the dash lights along with the motor for the headlight doors. I tried replacing the fuse but it blows any time i turn on the light. I called the local mazda dealer and they said the require a $500 deposit to look at a car that old. Unfortunately the next closest mazda dealer is over 100 miles away, damn iowa. Any suggestion to going about fixing my problem.

Sounds like You have a crack in a wire shorting to ground. Go to the FAQ and find the electrical diagram chase out everything on that fuse. Suck to find it but its a a 2 cent piece of tape to fix it.

Are you referring to a fuse or the fusible link on the driver's side strut tower? . I had one of the latter blow in a thunderstorm and had to drive on parking lights in pouring rain and heavy traffic. You can't tell by looking if they are blown or not in the fabric cover. After that I keep 6 new ones in the glovebox. They are hard to get and the dealer told me they might be discontinued ,so I cleaned him out right there. My advice is to stock up on spare fusible links ASAP.

Check the FSM's wiring diagram to properly locate the routing of the wiring for your light problem. Also, check to make sure that no wire is being grounded out. You'd be amazed at how one ground can mess up everything. Pay attention to detail, even the most smallest, most impossible thing can ruin everything.
