Lightbulb gslse axles

just a thought didnt find anything in the search but i know you can swap axles into non se sa and fb and since they share the same lug pattern as the 4 lug 2nd gen cant then as well swap the brakes as long as you have enough room inside of wheel. Has this been done? at least you can have factory parts wich is cool and they can 4 piston calipers. i know its not necessary but hey most of us here think outside the lines we own a wankel right! just a thought.

Don't know about the swap, but the 4-lug 2nd gens did not come with the 4-piston calipers you mention. The 4-pots only came on 5-lug models

You can only swap the -SE axles into 84-85 FB rearends. Earlier rear-ends had smaller axles, so the bigger 84-85 ones don't fit. The entire rearend swaps though, with the brakes included.

Like YellowT2 said, the 4pots only came on the 5lug (GXL or TII) second gens, on the front. They arn't easily swaped to first gens.

That is true, and don't even think about trying to swap the FC suspension over to an FB. First of all, you would be stuck with 5 bolt front and 4 bolt rear. The rears don't swap, unless you do A LOT of modification, since the FC had independant rear suspension. The front is a little easyer, but way to involved for the little benefit you get out of it.

So does it matter what axles as long as they are 83-85. Because I have a 85 disk brake rear-end, but I messed up the right rear caliper. I have a spare 85 but it has drums. Could I just pull the disk axles and put in the drum axles? that way I could keep the LSD.
