GSL-SE Windshield Wipers

Windshield wipers on my GSL-SE are not working.
Wondering if anyone of you experts out there had experienced the same problem and can share your expertise/recommendation as to how to go about fixing the wipers.

Thanks!

Not working as in how?
Not turning on at all?

The wipers on my 85 GSL were moving very slowly and making a grinding noise. It appeared the motor was frozen, so I bought a used wiper motor from Sun Auto and replaced it.
Great service ---> http://www.sunautorx7.com/

If they're not working at all, check your switch or fuses.

Not working at all.... The fuse is fine.... How much did you pay for the motor?

I don't remember exactly, but I think it was around $100. Everything was included except the wipers themselves (motor, linkage arms, etc).
The motor arrived within a week.

All I had to do was remove the cowling on the hood, then remove and replace the motor.

Before springing for a motor, make sure that's what it is. I wouldn't know, but are the switches
known to go bad on the SE's?

Take the front cover off (the one between the windsheild wipers with the venting in it) There is the obvious wiper bolts plus bolts along the firewall (top where the hood sealer is)

Then unplug the wiper motor and check for power when the switch is on. If theres power to the motor then the switch is fine.
Check the connector on the arms (similar to the one on the headlights) they break easily and the arms fall off. If that's not the case then it's probably the motor. If you want to test it, put 12v to it and see if see moves.

The wiper motor, pivot arms, etc are generic to all 1st Gens. So, easy to find a junk yard replacement. My bet is the motor is bad.

Take the wiper assembly out and unbolt the arm coming from the motor. Try to move the assembly. I bet the linkage is frozen. WD40 the hell out of it and it should work. Lube the pivots with white lithium so it doesn't seize again.

In my case, I did the WD40 trick on the linkage, but it didn't matter. The 'moaning' was coming directly from the motor.

I called Sun Auto as a last resort.

Are you sure you want to put lithium on the linkage? Won't that attract alot of dirt/dust?

I dunno. I just had to do something because Rain-X sucks at under 30 mph.
